Child Care Subsidy Caseload/Budget Model

This model, developed for Alberta Children’s Services, is designed to provide projections of future child care program caseloads and costs for each of three programs: Daycare, Family Day Home, and Out of School Care. For each of these programs, the model allows for variations in the definition of the child care subsidy program to test alternative program specifications and rates on caseloads and program costs. As well there are other assumptions that can be varied to determine the range within which program caseloads and costs may be expected to vary. The analysis results are available for each of the Child and Family Service Authority regions as well as by age each child and income status of each family. Incorporated in the model is a projection of population growth by age which is used to estimated the demand for child care services.
